Take the entire house. Three lockable units open into one another, so each family gets its own front door, kitchen and living room — and everybody still eats dinner together. The billiard room, the infrared sauna and the backyard grill belong to whoever claims them first.
Best for: Family reunions, ski groups, retreats and holiday weekends.

The space
The Governor's Mansion splits into three lockable units, each with its own living space. The Main Unit holds a king suite with jetted-tub en-suite, two queen bedrooms, and a private office; the Parlor Unit has a queen bedroom with en-suite bath, private living room, and kitchen; the Attic Loft sleeps six across a bunk room (four singles) and a queen bedroom, with its own living room and kitchenette. Shared across the house: an infrared sauna, full-size pool table, 20+ board games, fully stocked main kitchen, BBQ grill, backyard patio, laundry, and WiFi with a dedicated workspace.
Worth knowing: this is an 1893 building — period lighting runs warm rather than bright — and there is no air conditioning; Leadville rarely needs it at 10,152 ft.

The neighbourhood
You're one block off Harrison Avenue in Leadville's National Historic Landmark District — restaurants, coffee, museums, and shops are a half-block stroll, so a group of 14 never has to carpool to dinner.
From this corner of town:
- Ski Cooper (15 min), Copper Mountain (25 min), and Vail (47 min) for lift days
- The Mineral Belt Trail for Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, and summer rides
- Turquoise Lake (12 min) for paddling, fishing, and shoreline sunsets
- Mt. Elbert and Mt. Massive trailheads (about 26 min) — Colorado's two highest peaks
- Leadville's mining district, ghost towns, and Mosquito Pass for history and 4x4 days
